Getting a Reading [Semi-OPEN | Noon, June 10]
Who: York and OPEN to all Precog students
When: Noon, June 10th.
Where: York's Lab
What: Some introductions, some readings.
Warnings: N/A
York's lab doesn't look like all that much; honestly, it's just a cabin in the woods. Inside isn't anything special either: a few chairs arranged in a sort of semi-circle, a rug, a desk, a filing cabinet, and another door in the back.
What is interesting is the fact that, even at noon, when the posting said the class would start, the counselor is nowhere to be found. As well as the fact that the desk has some various snacks atop it: a coffee maker, a pot of tea with some bags swiped from the cafeteria, some juices, some random pastries.
It looks like an open invitation to relax and chat, at least while he's not there.
((OOC/Edit: Feel free to mingle! York's absence is part of his plan and he'll show up in a bit.))

...Well he wasn't just going to say no to tea, come on.]
I'm Randall Ascot, as you've probably heard. [Egotistical or trying to laugh off his getting caught? ~Who knows~]
I don't recall seeing many movies myself, but I did enjoy Lawrence of Arabia. I don't have much practice in precognition before either.

So, like I said, this is my first year here as a counselor, which means that my methods might be a bit unorthodox compared to however your other Precognition mentors went by it. While I've had enough practice and experience to pull visions out of essentially nothing, I find it much, much easier when starting out to have a focus of some kind. It might be your stereotypical crystal ball, or maybe a divination crystal, or even dowsing rods. It might not even be a physical focus, because you can get visions through dreams and such. My preferred focus?
[He smiles a bit, lifting his half-empty mug up.] Coffee. It's just what works for me. Now, since this might be new to you, I do have a set of crystals for you all to use for the time being, but once you leave this classroom, I'd like you to find your own personal focus for next time. [And with that, he pulls out a drawer in his desk, taking out a small plastic container with a few softball-sized crystal balls that may have seen better days, considering the way they're scuffed up and cloudy. Once he places that by all of the snacks, he also takes out a small wooden door, also known as a Psycho-Portal, from his pocket, likewise putting it down.]
I just want you to know that I will, along with precognition, be touching on retrocognition, or seeing the past. It's just as invaluable as seeing the future in some cases.
Now, before we move on... any questions?

[He did have a question, though.]
So, it can be anything?

How do you go about choosing your focus?
/sob i am so late on tags
For now, though, I do urge the use of these crystals for today's lesson. They're specially laced with trace amounts of psitanium to help students better guide their vision through it. Play around with it for a bit, see if you can make a connection of sorts, and then I'll open up the Psycho-Portal.

...Er, that was, until--] Er... Psitanium?
[He was suddenly a lot more wary holding that thing right now.] Heh... are you sure that's a good idea?
[It uh. Seemed like the kind of thing he'd need a permission slip for at least.]

I've tested these out back with HQ, and they gave permission to use for beginners classes. Honestly, though, it's more of a crutch than anything, and I still advise you all to find something more personal.

[Dio fearlessly picked up a crystal ball and held it up to the light, inpecting it closely.]

[It didn't seem to assuage his concerns, but he did his best to cover that up, and just look at his crystal ball quizzical as if he were confused by its general existence instead as he turned it over in his hand a few times.
He'll just uh. Let that drop. What's the worst that could happen?]
